The bund

Rating 4/5

The bund is a waterfront area in central Shanghai. The area centres on a section of Zhongshan Road within the former Shanghai International Settlement. The Bund usually refers to the buildings and wharves on this section of the road, as well as some adjacent areas. This is where the new meets the old. as he government have well preserved the old buildings there. By walking along the bund brings out a modern feel while looking at the old buildings, despite the fact that it is a preserved cultural heritage area. there is also a war momentum to remember the people who died in the three wars in china - the opium war, the civil war and the world war two. this momentum allowed me to remember those people who sacrifice for their china. the scenery there was splendid, with the cooling wind blowing towards me. there were also quite a few skyscraper located on the opposite of the Huang Pu Jiang. Those skyscrapers have special meaning to it. for example, one of them looks like a beer opener. we were told that during the japanese occupation, the japanese wanted to have their flag there, but the chinese disagreed and decided to cut it to be a rectangle, forming the current shape of the building. The bund is very clean with alot of visitors. it is a good place to relax and forget stress for the short period of time.

the war momentum which reminds us of the main three wars which chin had been through - opium war, Chinese civil war and the World War Two. It also reminds me about the brave people who.risked and sacrificed their life for their country. Without them, china would not be able to come this far, with advanced technology and modernization.
Those are the buildings on the opposite side of the Huang Pu Jiang. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower can be seen on the opposite side and also the Jin Mao Tower.Being one of the Top Ten Shanghai Attractions.
There were many old European styled buildings along the bund. During the period of foreign aggression in the past, many foreigners settled down in China, and thus built buildings which has their culture in it so that there will be some sense of belonging.
